John Huston’s hitman-hitwoman black comedy caper, anticipating the Mr & Mrs Smith shenanigans of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie 20 years later, was considered a brilliantly irreverent satirical take on the mafia, almost The Sopranos of its day.
